Redefining access to culture with the Mucem+ app
How does the revolutionary Mucem+ app and its virtual cards developed by STid manage to offer unlimited, secure, and affordable access to the collections of the Mucem? A process that redefines the cultural experience by incorporating it into a model of positive 'uberization,' motivating subscribers to explore the museum extensively.
Encouraging museum visits by providing a unique experience with attractive rates and easy accessibility, while overcoming potential flaws associated with QR code tickets through a secure solution. These were the challenges posed by the collaborative project between the Mucem and STid around the Mucem+ app.
Innovation and Openness: Common Values of MuCem and STid
The Mucem, or Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations, is located in Marseille. Inaugurated in 2013, it explores Mediterranean cultures through interactive exhibitions and diverse collections, highlighting the history and diversity of this region rich in cultural influences. An emblematic place, the Mucem stands out for its unique architecture, the diversity of its collections, its interdisciplinary approach, and the richness of its cultural programming.
The Mucem and STid share a common vision focused on modernity, innovation, and the use of technology in the service of the user experience. While the Mucem integrates these principles into its architectural and thematic approach, STid uses technology to secure users' assets and data, ensuring an intuitive experience.
The Mucem+ App
The Mucem+ app project involves virtualizing museum visitors' subscriptions. The goal is to anchor culture in contemporaneity, appealing to all generations through a user-friendly app, attractive rates available through the app, and, most importantly, a complete absence of queues for its holders. The iconoclastic approach of the project aims to "erase the barriers between public space and the museum, streamline and facilitate access for everyone," says Victor Jacques, the Mucem's director of development.
Access fluidity, the end of queues, and budget constraints abolished with a monthly subscription of only €3. As a hub for exchange and knowledge, the Mucem stimulates cultural consumption. Inspired by the success of streaming platforms in other fields, this model aims to democratize access to culture by removing all barriers, especially cost, through a subscription accessible to all.
Intuitiveness and Data Security
The Mucem+ app integrates STid Mobile ID: a digital badge solution developed by STid that secures visitors' subscriptions and museum access control. Its easy use ensures a quick entry into the museum without compromising on the high level of security. In fact, virtual badges offer security levels comparable to physical badges such as Mifare DESfire.
The synergy of STid and Mucem's expertise serves visitors who benefit from access to collections at reduced rates, facilitating more frequent and easy visits while ensuring the high security of their data.
"Reinventing the museum, offering a unique experience at an attractive price, managed solely from one's smartphone," says Adrien Joly, Director of Development at the Mucem.
